One of the most important tools we have for treating skin is Retin-A. Another medicine, hydroquinone, is excellent at bleaching away spots and pigmentary problems. Many patients may have been smokers for many years and now quit,and they are wanting to do something to reverse, aging signs such as, wrinkles, fine lines, dry skin, as well as problems with pigment.

Here in our office, we have licensed paramedical aestheticians who are well-equipped to assist in your skin care needs. Our aestheticians specialize in pre- and post-operative procedures, chemical peels and microdermabrasion. We carry the most progressive lines of skin care products such as Dermesse™, Éminence Organic Skin Care and Jane Iredale Mineral Makeup®. Skin Care Program

A fundamental prerequisite to an attractive face is beautiful skin. That is why we emphasize a comprehensive approach to restoring the health of our patients' skin. We use a combination of the following treatments: Obagi Nu-Derm System of high dose Retin-A treatments, Obagi chemical "Blue" Peels, and many other Skin Care treatments. An effective skin maintenance program can delay the need for surgery, but also prolong its effects. Dermesse™

Dermesse™ is a physician’s directed skin care system that treats hyperpigmentation, photodamage and melasma. It is a much more affordable alternative to the Obagi® system. Dermesse™ uses a combination of hydroquinone and tretinoin to treat the skin at the cellular level using topical prescription strength products.

The goal of this program is to restore skin health by correcting existing damage and stimulating the skins natural protective function. It removes areas of very dark pigmentation and blends them with lighter areas, exfoliates the dead skin layers at the surface (to remove surface damage and fine lines), and improves skin tone, color, and circulation. This combination of correction, stimulation and protection can help patients return sun damaged skin to normal, treat acne breakouts, and revitalize prematurely aged skin.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a facial mini-peeling or mini-sanding technique used to remove the dead cells sitting on the top layer of skin using either aluminum oxide or organic mineral. This technique is used to lessen the appearance of facial wrinkles and improve the aging appearance of the skin. The results remain for three to six weeks before it needs to be repeated. This is our most popular skin care treatment. Microderambrasion, along with the use of chemical peels and skin care products such as Dermesse®, can help reduce the appearance of scars resulting from acne or surgery, in addition to many other types of skin imperfections. It usually takes several treatments before maximum results are achieved.

Obagi® Blue Peel

The Obagi® "Blue" Peel is a medium strength acid chemical peel that can be performed safely in our office without anesthesia and with a relatively short recovery period of about one week. Blue Peels restore healthy skin by smoothing fine lines; tightening skin, and correcting stubborn pigment problems. A series of two to three blue peels is often used to treat the scars and large pores associated with chronic acne. The Blue Peel is an effective and economic resurfacing treatment which is safe for all skin types.

The DermaWave® System

The DermaWave® System promotes healing and edema reduction. DermaWave® treatments can be administered post-operatively to help in the areas of swelling, redness and the appearance of scars and bruising.

Jane Iredale The Skin Care Makeup®

Jane Iredale The Skincare Makeup® is an advanced mineral makeup that enhances the face while taking care of the skin. Iredale products feature a highly sophisticated blend of minerals and pigments that are micro pulverized to form a filter which will allow the skin to breathe and function normally while still protecting it from airborne pollutants. The staying power of the minerals is so great that they rarely need a touch-up during the day. The powders are also water resistant, which means they won't crease or smear even during exercise. This cosmetic line is perfect for achieving ultimate coverage no matter what skin type you have. We are proud to carry this line of cosmetics at our practice.

Biomedic / LaRoche-Posay

The Biomedic / LaRoche-Posay product line consists of skin care products formulated specifically for all skin conditions. These products are used daily. Along with a daily skin care regimen, Biomedics incorporates a series of peels known as Micropeel or Micropeel Plus. These peels are safe, in-office treatments that require little or no recovery time.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is the removal of unwanted facial hair without the pain and irritation of facial waxing or depilatories. A safe procedure for those currently using Retin-A, this treatment can very effectively remove dead skin cells and intensify your results prior to a chemical peel, microdermabrasion or silk peel. This procedure can be used in conjunction with most other services.
